As the new school year approaches, the Scotia-Glenville School District is preparing to implement Governor Kathy Hochul's new phone policies aimed at reducing distractions in schools. The district held a public comment period to address questions from parents and students about the upcoming changes.

Under the new policy, Scotia-Glenville middle and high school students will be required to keep their phones in their lockers from the start to the end of the school day. The district has decided against using phone pouches. A teacher and a parent, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed support for the policy, saying, "Phones are a huge distraction. I just wanted to say, I was hoping more parents would come and talk about this."
