One million Americans facing strict cell phone ban as ‘away for the day’ law inches closer

Washington leaders are making banning cell phones in schools a top priority.

Governor Bob Ferguson said banning all smart devices in K-12 public schools should be pursued in the new legislative session.

His proposed “Away for the Day” policy would mean devices like smartphones and smart watches aren’t allowed from the first bell to the last bell.

“Our kids are missing what’s written on the whiteboard and focusing more on memes instead of math because of digital distractions,” Ferguson said at a press conference
