HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Hawaiʻi Board of Education adopted a brand-new cell phone policy restricting student cell phone usage in Hawaiʻi’s public schools on Feb. 12.
The new rules regarding using mobile devices is split amongst grade level, with younger students not permitted to use phones at all during school hours and older students getting a bit of leeway.
According to the Hawaiʻi Department of Education, the new policy was adopted in order to address classroom disruption issues and promoting efficient learning environments.
