District administrators presented a draft district policy on June 10 that would require kindergarten through 12th‑grade students to keep cell phones, smart watches, earbuds and similar devices put away for the entire school day.The draft policy under discussion would treat devices as “away for the day,” meaning students could not access phones from arrival to dismissal. Administrators described a progressive discipline approach: an initial offense results in staff holding the phone until the end of the day; repeated offenses prompt parent notification and, on a third offense, a required parent pickup; continued violations could require daily turn‑in of devices to school staff.
