TWIN TIERS, N.Y. (WETM)— In New York State, students can’t have access to their phones during the school day.
This is because of a bell-to-bell cell phone ban that has been in effect for more than a year.
Students at Elmira schools are given a magnetic pouch called a Yondr that locks their phones during the school day.
According to administrators, students will get access to their phones at the end of the day, and in an emergency.
Take the "Away For The Day" pledge and show that you support school policies that require students to put their cell phones away in lockers, backpacks, or other places all day.
