Turns out handing over your cellphone at the beginning of a school day and not getting it back until day’s end has not been much of a hardship.
That’s the lesson learned by Butte Central High School staff and students after officials implemented the bell-to-bell ban for its students at the beginning of the school year.
“Bell-to-bell” means cellphones are unavailable throughout the school day.
Seven weeks in, and staff and students see it as a positive move.
“It’s working well,” said Don Peoples Jr., president and superintendent of Butte Central Catholic Schools. “The kids seem more focused, less distracted.”
Take the "Away For The Day" pledge and show that you support school policies that require students to put their cell phones away in lockers, backpacks, or other places all day.
