New school cell phone policy working, surveys indicate

The Nantucket Public Schools’ new cell-phone policy, which prohibits all cell-phone use during school hours, seems to be producing positive results, according to recently-completed staff and student surveys.

Some of the successes highlighted in a report prepared for the School Committee include less phone-related issues in school bathrooms and students interacting with each other more during lunch. A large challenge that remains is students forgetting the pouch at home or damaged pouches.
